Have some time to kill and want to play some online airplane games? Online plane games are quick to pick up and play for a few minutes, and many have very easy-to-learn controls. This article will provide what you need to know as far as system requirements, the categories of games available, and some of my personal favorite online flying game titles.
System Requirements:
You should make sure that you have Adobe Flash installed in order to play these games. Adobe Flash is a plug-in for web browsers such as Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox that lets your web browser behave more interactively (moving graphics and accepting keyboard commands to perform functions in the game). Other than that, as long as you have a Mac or Windows computer made within the last 5 or 6 years, you should be fine, as these games have very basic graphics. There are not many online plane games available yet for platforms such as the iPad, but there should be more of these in the future.

These are a few of the major categories of airplane games available online:
Dog Fighting – The point of dog fighting games is to go head-to-head against enemy pilots, by out-navigating them and shooting them down before they bring down your plane. These are quite exciting games, and typically have very simple keyboard commands and progressively more challenging levels.
War Games – Set in a war setting, such as World War II Germany, the point of these types of games is to drop bombs on targets, shoot down other planes, and to complete missions. There is a wide range of complexity involved in these games, with some having advanced missions with lots of objectives, and others being simple “shoot-em-up” games.
Paper Planes – Much like the past-time of folding up sheets of paper and actually throwing them across the room toward your annoying little brother, these games let you launch a paper plane and try to navigate it as far as possible. These are very basic games with limited controls.
Flight Simulators – These are the most realistic games, as they use actual physics and maps from around the world to provide you with an experience that is close to flying an actual plane.The graphics in these flight games are incredibly accurate and realistic. Because these games have more advanced graphics, there are only a couple of basic titles you can play in your web browser. Most of these games require a download.
